Alden Auditorium, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 100 Institute Road, Worcester, MA

Constructed in 1940, Alden Memorial was a gift of the George I. Alden Trust. Alden was WPI's first professor of mechanical engineering and was known as an innovative educator and accomplished researcher in mechanics and hydraulics. He was also one of the founders of Norton Co. in Worcester.
Alden Memorial was WPI's first auditorium. The main hall, used for lectures, performances and other events, features massive ceiling beams and stained-glass window medallions illustrating American history and cultural pursuits.(1)

In 1992, the building was completely renovated to create a modern and attractive center for the performing arts.

Anyone care to contribute an interior photo of Alden Memorial, circa 1974? Looks cool!
